SQUASH
Congratulations to Rukudzo Midzi who has been selected to represent Zimbabwe at U19 squash. Rukudzo participated in the Baseline Menlo60 NJSA Graded 2023 tournament in Pretoria were his performance earned an invitation to take part in the U19 Inter Provincial Tour to the Dunlop CJS Open in Pretoria, South Africa.
CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
DEBATE
On Tuesday 11 July, a debate was held with Cornerstone with the following results:
Seniors: Peterhouse won 79%vs Cornerstone’s 72%.
Tinashe Makuchete was Second Best Speaker with 80% and Taonga Muhwandavaka was the Third Best Speaker with 71%
Juniors: Peterhouse won 74% vs Cornerstone’s 60%.
Adrian Mudekunye was the Best Speaker with 88%; Tonomudaishe Toronga was the Second Best Speaker with 69%, and Nathan Nhliziyo was the Third Best Speaker with 66%.
QUIZ
On Saturday the 15th, the Quiz Team participated in the Best Books competition hosted at the Dominican Convent, with the following results:

THREE CHOIRS FESTIVAL
On Sunday 16 July, Peterhouse took place in the Three Choirs’ Festival alongside Chisipite and Arundel, in the Arundel Chapel. The Festival, which has not taken place in a number of years, was a touching celebration of John Hodgson’s life. Well done to the choirs who sang beautifully, and the music staff for all their hard work.
LEO DANCE
On Saturday the 15th of July the Leo Club hosted the Vegas themed dance as a fund raiser for those in need in our community. Particular thanks to the Leo Committee and staff for all their hard work towards making this a successful event.
INTERACT VARIETY SHOW
From 3-5 July, the Interact Club put on a ‘Lights Show’ themed “Peterhouse Has Talent” as a fundraiser for the less fortunate in the community. On the final night, the audience (including about 30 children from Musha we Vana) was spoiled to a performance by Gemma. Well done to the Board, the staff, and the participants for their hard work.
LONDON COLLEGE OF MUSIC EXAMS
On 3 & 4 July, an examiner from the UK came out to Peterhouse examine LCME candidates. Of the 11 candidates PHB entered, 10 attained Distinctions and 1 a Merit. Certificates will be handed out in due course, but well done to the candidates and their teachers for the investment in time and practice to attain honourable results.
DUKE OF EDINBURGH’S AWARD
Tinashe Chavunduka has achieved his Duke of Edinburgh’s Silver International Award. He has committed 12 months to this process, outside of the 6 months he committed towards attaining his Bronze Award. He has been an exemplary participant of the ethos of the DoE due to his resilience and tenacity. Well done Tinashe, please come up to receive your Award and Pin.
