Dear Parents and Guardians
A warm welcome to the beginning of the Lent Term 2024 at Peterhouse. We are excited to welcome the parents of our new girls, especially those new to the Peterhouse family. We welcomed 80 new girls into D Block and 15 others throughout the school this term. I am also happy to introduce two new teaching staff members, Mrs Thandiwe Basopo in the IT department and Mrs Clare Mulder in the Science department.
The term started on a high note with pleasing examination results across Peterhouse Boys and Girls. Our A Level pass rate reached 97%, and once again, our IGCSE girls broke the 90% barrier. Congratulations to all our pupils and teachers for their hard work and dedication in achieving these wonderful outcomes. In recognition of their achievements, Academic colours and Half colours will be awarded to 21 deserving candidates, and I am thoroughly proud of all the girls and of how hard they worked. There are some who are disappointed in their results and that is understandable, however, it is our ethos that we always do our best and then use these times to motivate us to move forward with additional determination.
Our new D Block girls are coping well and have settled into Tatanga House. Their first few weeks have been very busy and full of adventure, including the Basecamp expedition where they showcased their grit, patience, and kindness. Well done to all the girls for completing their first Peterhouse journey with flying colours; they all deserve a restful weekend, and no doubt they will enjoy time with their families. I am sure the girls and you are looking forward to time together this weekend.
I certainly hope this weekend is restful and peaceful for all. The roads to and from Peterhouse are undoubtedly becoming more hazardous, so please take care, and, in the meantime, we pray for your safety. The first three weeks have been full of positive energy, and I hope that this is the foundation for a productive year ahead. In closing, I quote from our Anglican chapel service,
“May we grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, to whom be glory both now and forever. Amen.”
