SPORTING ACTIVITIES
Peterhouse Boys enjoyed a busy and successful period of sport over the holidays, with pupils representing the school across cricket, rowing, archery, tennis and swimming, alongside the return of Inter-House competition in hockey, soccer and rugby during the last week of Trinity Term. There were a number of impressive team and individual performances, with our boys continuing to represent Peterhouse with commitment, determination and pride.
CRICKET
1st XI Tournament
Played 7 | Won 4 | Lost 3 | Plate Runners-Up
The 1st XI completed a demanding tournament, playing seven matches over four days. Following a challenging group stage, the team showed excellent resilience to win three consecutive matches and secure a place in the Plate Final.
Tyler Chapman and Ndiriwashe Munatsirei provided consistency with the bat, while Isheanopa Mutungi and Cameron Oosthuizen produced some outstanding power-hitting performances. Mutungi scored an excellent 69 from just 24 balls, including 8 sixes, while Oosthuizen contributed 20 from 9 balls.
It was a demanding tournament for the bowling unit, with seven matches in just four days, and the boys deserve credit for their effort and important contributions throughout.
Congratulations also to Patrick Mostert, who earned his first 1st XI cap and produced a fantastic performance on debut.
ARCHERY
Congratulations to Simba Chivige on an outstanding performance at the AGA Federation Tournament, held in Lobatse, Botswana, from 12–15 August.
Simba was one of four Zimbabwe AGA archers selected for the AGA Federation Team, comprising the top 16 archers at the tournament.
It proved to be a historic competition for Zimbabwe, with the team achieving a clean sweep of both the Bullseye and 2D competitions – the first time Zimbabwe has accomplished this feat.
The team returned home with an impressive three gold medals, as well as an individual bronze medal, following a strong showing on the continental stage.
Congratulations to Simba on this exceptional achievement and for representing Peterhouse and Zimbabwe with such distinction.
HOCKEY
Inter-House Hockey
Congratulations to Paget and Snell, who finished as joint winners of the Inter-House Hockey competition with 14 points each.

Inter-House Soccer
The Inter-House Soccer competition produced a competitive series of matches across the Junior, Middle and Senior age groups.
After combining the points from all three sections, Malvern emerged as the overall Inter-House Soccer champions.

Inter-House Rugby
The Inter-House Rugby competition produced a strong and competitive series of matches across the U14, U15, U16 and Open age groups.
Ellis emerged as the overall champions with 23 points, having won the U15, U16 and Open competitions. Snell won the U14 competition and finished second overall.

SWIMMING
Zone IV Swimming Championships – Botswana
Congratulations to Jude Moss and Gabriel Munengwa on their outstanding performances at the Zone IV Swimming Championships in Botswana.
Representing Zimbabwe, both boys won medals as members of Zimbabwe relay teams. Representing one’s country is a tremendous honour, and their achievements reflect the hard work, discipline and commitment they continue to demonstrate in the pool.

ROWING
World Rowing U19 Championships – Plovdiv, Bulgaria
Tungamirai Chinhamo and Jason Moulder, together with Arianna Robinson and a pupil from Arundel School, were selected as the four athletes to represent Zimbabwe at the World Rowing Under 19 Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
The Championships provided the athletes with a unique opportunity to compete on the international stage, gaining invaluable global exposure alongside some of the world’s leading junior rowers.
Arriving at the world-class course in Plovdiv, the Zimbabwean team found themselves surrounded by hundreds of athletes from established rowing nations, many of whom benefit from extensive high-performance training programmes and dedicated training camps. Rather than being intimidated by the scale of the competition, the team embraced the experience, using it as an opportunity to learn from international racing strategies, technique and discipline.
The boys produced a personal best time in their race, while the girls also achieved a personal best. Unfortunately, an injury sustained 300 metres into their final race prevented the girls from completing the event. Both crews nevertheless finished within a minute of the winning times in their respective heats – an encouraging achievement against world-class opposition.
The athletes represented Peterhouse, Arundel and Zimbabwe with tremendous pride, sportsmanship and determination throughout the Championships. The experience and international exposure gained in Bulgaria provide an important stepping stone for these young athletes and for the continued development of rowing in Zimbabwe.

Sun City Tour – South Africa
During the holidays, our tennis boys represented Peterhouse on the Sun City Tour in South Africa. The tour provided valuable international competition, and the boys represented the school with determination, sportsmanship and pride.

Congratulations to all the boys who represented Peterhouse on the Sun City Tennis Tour. The experience provided valuable competition and an excellent opportunity for the players to test themselves against strong opposition in South Africa.
Congratulations to all our sportsmen who represented Peterhouse during the holiday period and in the opening Inter-House competitions of the new term. These performances are a credit to the boys, their coaches and everyone who continues to support our sporting programmes.
