ACADEMIC MATTERS
OUTSTANDING CAMBRIDGE LEARNER AWARD

Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards recognize Exceptional learner achievement in Cambridge Examinations around the world. David Lawrence Weller gained the highest mark in Zimbabwe for Cambridge IGCSE Design and Technology in the November 2023 Cambridge Examinations. Special thanks also goes to the teachers for their outstanding guidance towards this achievement. 

SPORTING ACTIVITIES

ZIMBABWE FIELD TRIALS
Matthew Tippett was selected earlier this year for the Zimbabwe Field Trials team, along with his dog Ruger. He competed in an event over Half Term, at which he was recognised as the “Most Promising Handler”.

GOLF
Golf results from the Heritage 18 holes held on Sunday 30 June. Congratulations to Felix Machado who was awarded a trophy after
scoring 84 points in very in difficult weather conditions.

HOCKEY
Congratulations to the following boys who were selected to represent Zimbabwe at the U/18 Inter Provincials tournament over the weekend.

ZIMBABWE JUNIOR SQUASH REPRESENTATIVES
The Zimbabwe junior squash teams travelled to play in the South African Inter Provincial Squash tournament and the results were as follows;
Robert Weller played 6 games in the U13 boys’ age group, won 4 and lost 2. The team placed 3rd overall.
Isaac Allott played 8 games in the U14 boys, won 6 and lost 2. The U14 team were undefeated, but placed 2nd overall on games count.
Rukudzo Midzi represented the U19A boys’ team, winning 6 and losing 3 matches. The team placed 7th overall.

AMG report 2024
The Annual Peterhouse AMG 7’s was held on Saturday the 29th of June. The participating schools were Peterhouse, along with Falcon who participated for the first time and did themselves proud being competitive, Prince Edward, St John’s, St George’s, Hellenic Lomagundi, CBC and Wise Owl.
Special mention goes to the Soccer teams for winning the A and B finals and the senior rugby team who lost in the final to Lomagundi.

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

DEBATE
v St John’s – Tuesday 11th June
Form Ones Only – PHB lost with 64% to St. John’s College’s 65%.
Juniors – PHB won with 60% to St. John’s College’s 58%.
Simbarashe Mutevhe was the Best Speaker with 57%.
Intermediates – PH won with 60%, to St. John’s College’s 59%.
Simbarashe Mandingaisa was the Second Best Speaker and Adrian Mudekunye was the Third Best Speaker.
Seniors – PH drew 80% with St. John’s College.

PHB VS PHG Debate – Played Tuesday 18th June
D Blocks only match, PHB lost with 64%, to PHG’s 70%. Blessing Chakumhara was the Third Best Speaker.
Juniors A – PHB lost 68%, to PHG’s 69%. Simbarashe Mutevhe was the Second Best Speaker.
Juniors B PHB won with 85%, to PHG’s 84%. Isheanesu Mutevhe was the Second Best Speaker.
Intermediates – PHB won with 70%, to PHG’S 69%. Kudakwashe Chifamba was the Second Best Speaker and Adrian Mudekunye was the Third Best Speaker.

DRAMA
Congratulations to our drama pupils who worked hard at memorisation and performance delivery, and gave up their time over half term to participate in the NIAA Speech & Drama Festival. Congratulations to the following poetry recitals:
Batsi Nyawo, Mikey Koen, Jason Moulder, Kaystone Hlongwane and Christian Wekwete, who had the highest mark of 79%.
Well done to Batsi Nyawo for performing a sonnet on the same day and getting 75%.
PHB received 3 First Grades in the Monologue and Duologue section. Congratulations to Caleb Mashungu, Adrian Mudekunye and Keyan Waters for their fine performances.
