Gavel
The St Georges and PHG Gavel clubs came together for the first time on Wednesday, 29 May, and it was a good experience for the PHG club as they were exposed to a more severe and formal setting. The speeches were delivered excitingly and passionately and kept everyone on the edge of their seats. The table topics ‘Should mentally ill people be allowed to procreate’ and ‘Should criminals be allowed to profit off of art made by their crimes’ brought great discussion, and the games played helped people come out of their shells a bit more. As this was their first time travelling to another school for a meeting, it was lovely to see how well they had adjusted. Both table topics were argued very well, and in the end, it was clear that the final verdict was left on a rather ‘agree to disagree basis’ as people stood firm in what they believed in.

STEM
The STEM club attended a Science Forum held at Arundel School on Wednesday, 29 May. After a few ice-breaker activities, guest speaker Ms Samantha Moyo presented. Then, a debate was held, with the topic of discussion being the impact of microplastics on aquatic ecosystems. To conclude the forum, the groups looked at ways of improving the design of a rover that was created to remove litter, especially plastic litter, from aquatic bodies.
