CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
BUCKLAND ARTS
Buckland Arts is an annual competition in the cultural space at Peterhouse Girls. It provides an opportunity for girls to display creativity and innovation through a wide range of cultural activities including Art, Photography, Décor, Flower Arrangement, Design, Music, Dance, Recitation, Cookery, Information Technology, and Installation.
The 2026 theme, “Africa, My Africa,” invited recognition and appreciation of the continent’s rich heritage, resilience, and creativity. It encouraged participants to explore Africa’s diverse traditions and global cultural contributions through Poetry, Music, Dance, and Visual Arts.
The theme also challenged the girls to reflect on identity, diversity, and unity while showcasing the beauty and strength of African culture in all its forms. As the festival concluded, participants emerged with a renewed pride in their continent and a commitment to being confident ambassadors of Africa’s story, carrying its spirit of resilience and creativity into the wider world.
The competition was a resounding success and concluded with an exhibition of the best entries from the various categories, as well as two entertaining concerts.

PASTIS
The PASTIS Club recently met with Marondera High School. Proceedings began with an icebreaker session designed to help pupils settle their nerves before presenting ideas.
Participants discussed the influence of social media influencers on teenage self-image and explored ways of managing jealousy in a healthy and constructive manner. Many pupils shared mature and thoughtful perspectives on self-improvement, including the importance of avoiding actions that may harm others out of jealousy.
The group also examined conflict resolution. While many participants demonstrated a good understanding of constructive conflict management, some found this challenging due to fears of damaging important relationships.
Overall, pupils engaged thoughtfully with key interpersonal issues. Going forward, the focus will be on strengthening conflict-resolution skills and helping pupils manage relationship concerns calmly and constructively.
