Dear Parents and Guardians
We’ve had such a wonderful start to the term, filled with energy, smiles, and new beginnings. It has been a joy to welcome all our new girls and families into the Peterhouse community—your presence already adds so much to our family spirit.
A particularly poignant and moving induction service was held to welcome and embrace all our new girls. It was a special moment of reflection and celebration, reminding us of our school history and the values that bind us together as one family. Our new D Block girls have shown great courage and adaptability as they’ve stepped into senior school life. After tackling the challenges of a successful (and rather wet) camp, starting their lessons, and meeting the demands of their sporting and cultural commitments, they are more than ready to enjoy being home for the first time in three weeks. We’re proud of how well they’ve managed this transition and the enthusiasm they’ve brought to every activity.
We are also delighted to share the news of our outstanding Cambridge examination results. These achievements are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our girls and their teachers. Their commitment has really paid dividends, and we celebrate this success with them. As the weekend approaches, I wish you all a restful time at home. With such a positive start to the year, I can’t
help but be excited about what’s to come. May the Lord bless you and keep you all until you return safely next week.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Adventurous Journey is a key component of the Duke of Edinburgh (DoE)
Award, designed to challenge young people through outdoor exploration and teamwork. It aims to develop essential skills, foster independence, and encourage a spirit of adventure. This term, we have one journey planned from the 27th of February to the 1st of March. Participants have started signing up already and will go through their training in the weeks ahead. It’s exciting to see the growing interest from C Block girls who make up the majority of the participants who have signed up.
The journey involves planning, preparing, and undertaking an expedition in a group, typically lasting two days with one overnight stay in the wilderness. The participants are required to navigate using maps and compasses, manage their own food and equipment, and work together to solve problems along the way.
The Adventurous Journey is an opportunity for young people to step out of their comfort zones, face challenges, and experience personal growth, while gaining a sense of accomplishment from achieving their goal together. If you would like your daughter to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh International Award, please send an email to mshamu@phg.co.zw.

PASTIS
This week, the PASTIS Club met with the Interact Club at Macheke High School. The students demonstrated an awareness of the disparities between men’s and women’s sports, particularly regarding funding and prioritization, while also recognizing the limited focus on men’s rights. They explored various academic and physiological challenges faced by different genders. Additionally, the discussions addressed societal pressures related to beauty standards and academic performance, acknowledging both the positive motivational aspects and the negative effects, such as peer pressure, which impacts self-acceptance and struggles with self-image – especially in the context of social media.
