Dear Parents and Guardians
As we reach the close of this term, we celebrate the many successes our girls have achieved in the classroom, on the sports field, in cultural activities, and in music. Their commitment and enthusiasm have been a source of pride and joy for us all. We also bid a fond and sad farewell to Mr. Milupi Imbula. His years of dedication and the excellence he brought to our music school will long be remembered. At the same time, we celebrate with him as he begins a new chapter in marriage and returns to Zambia. For our senior girls, this holiday is first and foremost a time for rest and recovery after a demanding term. Yet it is also an opportunity to prepare diligently for their final examinations. Those who use this time wisely to consolidate their knowledge will find
themselves better equipped for the challenges ahead.
For our B Block girls, next term begins with the exciting and challenging trip to the Chimanimani mountains. I encourage them to use part of their holiday to work on their fitness so that they are well prepared to enjoy and benefit fully from this experience.
Finally, I extend my congratulations to our newly appointed House Prefects. I look forward to working with them and am excited that they will have the opportunity to serve their school and grow in their new leadership roles.
As we head into the holiday, may we carry with us the joy of the Lord and the peace that comes from walking in His ways. “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

B BLOCK STUDY SKILLS AND TRAINING
Our B Block girls were inspired by an engaging and practical presentation from Mrs Leafy Rous, Head of Futures at Peterhouse Group of Schools, on developing a positive mindset and overcoming the challenges that can hinder effective learning and revision. The session provided a wealth of practical, achievable strategies that the girls can apply to improve both their confidence and their study habits. We look forward to seeing the positive impact of these strategies as the girls put them into practice in the months ahead.
C BLOCK PARENT-TEACHER CONSULTATION
Our teachers were delighted to connect with C Block parents at consultation on the final day of term.
Beforehand, parents attended a short presentation explaining the IGCSE subject selection process and what to consider when choosing subjects for B Block. This presentation has been emailed to all parents. Parents are asked to submit their daughter’s B Block 2027 subject choices via the Google Form before 8th September:

Next term, A Block and VIth Form may apply to take study leave after half term (20th October), if they have more than a week without examinations. Please note that Vth Form will not be permitted to leave school during this time as they will commence their A-Level syllabus. Study-leave forms and details have been circulated by email.

NATIONAL DEBATE TOURNAMENT
Shiloh Deetlefs participated in the Thistle Cup WSDC, with 103 participating teams, each representing their country. She was placed runner-up Best Speaker out of 527 speakers. She also finished as the highest-ranking Zimbabwean speaker. As a result, she is now recognised as the second-best open debater internationally for the 2026 season.
The Zimbabwean team she represented won first place, becoming the world champions in the World Schools’ Debating Circuit until the 2027 season begins.
MUN
On Friday, 17th and Saturday, 18th July 2026, Peterhouse hosted its first-ever Model United Nations Conference, PHMUN 2026, under the theme ‘Redefining Global Security in the 21st Century’ .
The conference brought together delegates from five schools, representing countries and organisations across seven committee rooms.
Delegates spent the weekend debating pressing global security issues. The conference opened with an address from guest speaker, Ambassador Academic Vova Chikanda, a distinguished Zimbabwean diplomat and Founder of the Zimbabwe Institute of Diplomacy, who shared his insights on diplomacy and statecraft with delegates.
Congratulations to the following Peterhouse Girls delegates, who were recognised for their outstanding contributions during the conference, in their respective rooms:

PHMUN 2026 was a resounding success, and we look forward to building on this inaugural conference in the years to come.
DUKE OF EDINBURGH'S INTERNATIONAL AWARD
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Adventurous Journey is an essential part of the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award, aimed at challenging young people through outdoor exploration and teamwork. This program is designed to help participants develop vital skills, foster independence, and encourage a spirit of adventure. Next term, we have several planned journeys, and participants will have the opportunity to sign up and undergo training in preparation for these expeditions. It is exciting to see the increasing interest from the girls in this program. The journeys involve planning, preparing, and undertaking an expedition in groups, typically lasting two days with one overnight stay in the wilderness.
Participants will need to navigate using maps and compasses, manage their own food and equipment, and collaborate in teams to solve problems along the way.
The Adventurous Journey offers young people the chance to step out of their comfort zones, face challenges, and experience personal growth, while also fostering a sense of accomplishment from reaching their goals together.
