FROM: THE HEADMISTRESS
Dear Parents and Guardians
A term like this makes me delight in being in education, although it has been long, it has been inspiring. I
watched the school play and was in awe of the performances of our young thespians. Their timing and
interpretations were amazing. A couple of days later, I witnessed our girls in the final of the Golden Girls
hockey tournament. In my opinion, they did everything they needed to do to be victorious, but things didn’t
go their way and, instead they were runners up. I left the field with an immense sense of pride. Not once did
their heads go down or did they display anything but incredible team spirit. It made me think that sometimes
the depth of our character is most aptly displayed when we face disappointment. My sincere congratulations
to the girls, for they were exemplary. Our basketball team displayed the same spirit in their final tournament
in Kwekwe, and I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate them as they flew our flag with distinction.
As we end this term, we bid farewell to Mrs Velma Mukuruva. Velma has taught French at Peterhouse Girls
for 22 years and now leaves us to take up a fulltime post in Christian ministry. She goes with our grateful
thanks and our very best wishes.
Our exam classes will now be preparing for, in many cases, the most important exams of their lives. While
there is always trepidation, I feel the groundwork has been laid and would like to encourage the girls to remain
strong and focused all the way to the finish line. My thanks as always must go to our dedicated staff who go
above and beyond. And to our parents who always show unwavering support. I hope that you have a restful
holiday and safe travels.
Finally, may I draw your attention once again to our school motto, Conditur in Petra (established on the rock).
It is no coincidence in my mind that our school flourishes because of God’s grace. While we enjoy an
exceptional school in many ways, the thing I love the most about Peterhouse is the combination of gratitude
and humility that our children portray as they build their lives on the Rock.
Yours sincerely
Mrs Claire Hough
