Dear Parents and Guardians
This week has brought a collective sigh of relief through our examination classes. Exams are behind us, and everyone is ready for a well-earned pause.
It’s no secret that exams raise anxiety for our girls and for parents alike. But that anxiety often misses the bigger picture. Exams aren’t meant to be something to fear. They should be more like a map, showing us where we’re strong and where we need to dig a little deeper. They highlight what has been mastered and what still needs attention.
Of course, there’s always uncertainty and risk involved, which is why many would happily avoid exams altogether. But that’s also the point: learning means stepping into vulnerability, admitting what we don’t yet know, and building the drive to discover more.
In fact, the very uncertainty that makes exams uncomfortable is what prepares us for life. Testing ourselves builds resilience and confidence, and it reminds us that we can face challenges head-on and grow stronger through them.
This weekend brings a time of rest for our girls, parents, and staff. My prayer is that we all return with fresh energy, ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
The Cambridge 2026 October/November examination timetable can be viewed at:
https://www.cambridgeinternational.org/Images/757648-november-2026-zone-3-timetable.pdf
This shows the dates on which examinations will be held and whether they are in the morning or afternoon. More detailed timetables with exact times for A Block, Vth and VIth Form will soon be finalised. The first IGCSE examination is on 24 September and the last is on 12 November.
Our A Block, Vth and VIth Form girls experienced the challenge of writing their mock papers under examination conditions. It was an intense experience for most, but there are many encouraging results, testament to some diligent application by both teachers and pupils alike. In the post-examination review period, the girls will have many opportunities for building on the foundation already in place and honing examination technique, both of which should contribute to better results in their final papers later this year.
We were delighted to facilitate 115 Grade 7 girls to write their entrance assessment on Saturday, 4 July.
These pupils are among those who would like to obtain a place at Peterhouse Girls starting in January 2027.
