Dear Parents and Guardians
It’s hard to believe that we have already reached the halfway point of the term! I’m sure that, like us, you welcome
the Half Term break as an opportunity to rest and enjoy precious family time. Bolstered by the outstanding exam
results, our girls have worked diligently over the past six weeks and have achieved much across the broader
curriculum. The new D Block girls have settled in beautifully and I am incredibly proud of how they have
embraced the many opportunities available to them.
Recently, we held Mission Week, a special time each year when Peterhouse Girls and Boys focus on evangelical
teaching, allowing our pupils to ask questions and learn about the Gospel. We are grateful for the young women
and men who volunteer their time during this period to enrich our community.
This Half Term weekend, our rowers will be departing for the South African Championships. They have dedicated
tremendous effort to their training, and I wish them every success. I encourage them to uphold the Peterhouse
spirit in their performance and conduct while on tour.
Following this weekend, our afternoon programme will shift its focus to athletics. The first major event will be
the combined Peterhouse Boys and Peterhouse Girls Interhouse competition on Sunday 2nd March. I hope many
of you will join us to support your daughter’s house.
Service to our community remains a vital aspect of life at Peterhouse Girls. Each year, we contribute by crocheting
squares to create blankets for the children of the Musha weVana Orphanage in Marondera. We need to start now
to ensure that we complete the blankets before the renowned Marondera winter sets in. Each girl is asked to make
at least one granny square (using a 4.5/5 hook and double knit/4 ply wool) measuring 20cm by 20cm. Each blanket
requires 60 squares and we aim to produce at least 10 blankets. Please encourage your daughter to contribute her
square (and more if possible!) If she does not know how to crochet, many girls and staff members are available
to teach her.
As we enter the second half of the term and the season of Lent, we are reminded of the sacrifice Jesus made for
our salvation. On our journey towards Easter, may we be inspired to deepen our faith, seek forgiveness, extend
grace, and serve one another with love.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs Claire Hough
Headmistress
