Dear Parents and Guardians

With the end of the year in sight, Speech Day provided a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our girls and staff. It was a fitting occasion to reflect on the many successes and memorable moments that have characterised 2026. I extend my heartfelt thanks to our Guest of Honour, Ms Kudzayi Shawatu, whose vision for the leadership and empowerment of young women inspired us all. Her words of wisdom, encouragement, and guidance were particularly meaningful for our Leavers as they prepare for the next stage of their journeys.

Of all the special events this term, perhaps none was more significant than our farewell to the VIth Form of 2026. The Leavers’ Service and Lunch were both memorable and meaningful occasions. Each girl was presented with a pendant, generously gifted by the Petrean Society, symbolising her transition from Peterhouse pupil to alumna. These occasions are always happy and sad as we celebrate the contributions these young women have made to our community while also saying goodbye and wishing them well as they embark on exciting new chapters in their lives.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Keira Findlay, our Head Girl, Leona Marimira, our Deputy Head Girl, and the entire Prefect Body of 2026. They have served the school with unity and humility throughout the year. We are grateful for the legacy they leave behind and look forward with hope and excitement to the new leaders who will now take up the mantle.

Arianna Robinson and her coach, Mrs Kerry Zaal (PHB), have recently returned from competing in the Youth Olympics in Senegal. Facing very different conditions from those at home, Arianna competed on the ocean rather than on a dam and delivered an outstanding performance, finishing 20th in the world. We are incredibly proud of her achievement, commitment and determination, and extend our sincere thanks to Mrs Zaal for her guidance and support throughout this remarkable journey.

Examinations, both external and internal, are drawing to a close, bringing a sense of relief and celebration for both pupils and staff. We wish all our girls every success as results are released in the weeks ahead.

Looking forward, our A Block girls will travel to the Bubye Valley Conservancy at the end of next week. We wish them, and the staff accompanying them, a safe, enjoyable, and enriching trip.

May you all enjoy a restful and blessed weekend with your daughters. “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

Kind Regards

Mrs Claire Hough
Headmistress

ACADEMICS

B Block Parent-Teacher Meeting
The B Block Parent-Teacher Meeting was held in the PHG dining hall on Friday, 6th November, offering a
wonderful opportunity for parents to connect with staff and discuss their daughters’ academic progress at this
pivotal stage in their IGCSE journey. Prior to the consultations, our Senior Mistress, Mrs Chinyahara,
delivered an insightful and thought-provoking presentation entitled “Sense and Sensibility”, exploring the dynamics of teenage emotional development.

Examinations
Our internal examinations have run very smoothly. Teachers are currently taking time to guide the girls through constructive review sessions – an essential part of the learning journey. By reflecting on performance, correcting misconceptions, and consolidating key topics in class, pupils are not only deepening their conceptual understanding but also sharpening their study strategies for the future.

Commencement of IGCSE Syllabi for B Block 2027
This week, our C Block pupils successfully transitioned into their B Block IGCSE classes (termed CBs) for the remainder of the term. This head start allows them to comfortably adjust to the expectations and academic depth of their chosen and core subjects. Now in its sixth year, this early transition continues to boost pupil enthusiasm and facilitates the completion of our syllabi in the face of earlier Cambridge examination dates.

Cambridge Examination Results
The Cambridge A and AS Level examination results will be available on 7th January 2027, with the IGCSE results following on 14th January 2027. Parents of candidates will receive online access details via email prior to these dates. Dr Hildebrand will provide the IGCSE login information, while Mr Griggs will issue the credentials for AS and A Level results.

Vth Form 2027 – Back to School

Please note that our incoming Vth Form pupils (our current A Block) will return for the Lent Term on Tuesday 12th January 2027, prior to the release of their IGCSE results. The term will begin with a comprehensive orientation programme held at Peterhouse Boys (PHB). Designed to set our pupils up for success, the schedule includes meeting tutors, navigating new campus facilities, team-building activities, and
leadership workshops. Crucially, the programme will guide pupils on mastering A Level study techniques and offer valuable early insights into tertiary education pathways. Coordinated by Mrs Myrna Simpson, Head of Upper School, this orientation ensures a smooth, confident transition into the Peterhouse Boys school environment.
