Peterhouse Girls’ Newsletter -10 – Michaelmas Term 2025

FROM: THE HEADMISTRESS
Dear Parents and Guardians

As we pause for the Half Term Weekend, it’s remarkable to reflect on how swiftly the term has progressed.
Just weeks ago, we were welcoming the girls back, and now we find ourselves at the midpoint of the
Michaelmas term. The recent rainstorm—refreshing and long-awaited—was a welcome gift, and I hope it
signals the beginning of our rainy season. There was something quite uplifting about the sound of rain on the
rooftops, and I trust it brought a sense of renewal to many.
The past fortnight has been rich with celebration and achievement. Our Sport and Culture dinners were a true
testament to the talent and passion within the school. I extend sincere thanks to Mr Pongweni, Mrs Pashapa,
and Mrs Mtakwa for planning and executing such memorable evenings. As we move into the second half of
term, we look forward to continuing to honour the accomplishments of our girls, particularly at Speech Day
on Saturday 25th October. We warmly invite you to join us for this special occasion. There will be tea on the
lawn outside the library at 1300hrs and Speech Day will begin at 1400hrs in the St Francis Chapel, PHG.
With external examinations underway, our A Block, Vth, and VIth Form girls are demonstrating commendable
focus and maturity. Internal exams begin next week for the rest of the school, and while we encourage the girls
to enjoy a restful break, we also urge them to balance relaxation with thoughtful revision. For D Block, these
will be their first senior school exams; C Block will be looking ahead to their subject choices for IGCSE; and
B Block will gain valuable insight into the rigours of IGCSE through this experience.
That’s all from me and I wish you all a wonderful weekend with your families. And may the peace of Christ,
which surpasses all understanding, guard you and keep you and bring you all back safely.

Kind regards,

Mrs Claire Hough
Headmistress
