ROWING
Results of the South African rowing championships that took place this last weekend and Roodeplaat Dam in Pretoria. We are thrilled with every single young man who showed his true spirit during races and we would like to acknowledge not only their results but more so on how they conducted themselves and grew as individuals and as a team.
David Weller made the semi-final in the J19 singles sculls, as well as making the final in the J19 doubles with Tungamirai Chinhamo where they came 6th.
Chinhamo made finals in his single and double scull with Guy Annandale. Shout out to Chinhamo who raced a massive 7 times over the 3 days which is no mean feat!
A nail biting final consisting of TWO Peterhouse boats in the J16 double final saw Tyler Moss and Jason Moulder missing out on a bronze medal by only 0.6 of a second.
The J16 quad consisting of Guy Annandale, Tyler Moss, Micah Mhlaba, Josh Stone and Jason Moulder also made it through to the final.
Last but definitely not least, Robert Weller raced three times to make it through the heat, semi-final and through to the final to win a SILVER MEDAL at the SA Junior rowing Championships.
In summary, as a club across the boys and girls – we made 5 semi- finals and 11 finals which for a club who has faced immense lack of water time we could not be more proud of our team. We as coaches, give special thanks not only to the rowers for their dedication and efforts, but to the phenomenal parent body who supports us continually and we would not be able to continue the sport without them.
