SPORTS AND CULTURAL RESULTS – MICHAELMAS 2026

We have another busy collection of results to celebrate this week, with our boys representing Peterhouse in cricket, rowing, volleyball and water polo. There were excellent individual performances, medal-winning achievements and strong team efforts across the week.

ARCHERY

Inter-House

The Inter-House Archery Tournament was held on Wednesday 23 September, with all six Houses competing.

  • 1st – Grinham
  • 2nd – Ellis
  • 3rd – Founders
  • 4th – Malvern
  • 5th – Snell
  • 6th – Paget

Snell and Paget finished level on total score and also had the same number of 10s. Snell secured 5th place on the countback of 9s.

Congratulations to Grinham House, our 2026 Inter-House Archery Champions.

  • U14A: Peterhouse 156 all out. St George’s 101 all out; Jake Labat 5/30 and Tayne Coetzee 4/32. Peterhouse won by 55 runs.
  • U15B: St George’s 172 all out after 21 overs; Aiden Masanganise 3 wickets, TJ Mautsa 2 wickets, Michael Mckinlay 2 wickets and Nhambo Gundo 2 wickets. Peterhouse 173/9 after 28 overs; Marley Rushesha 73 and Nhambo Gundo 35. Peterhouse won by 1 wicket.
  • U15A: St George’s 144 all out; Cullen Seaman 2/10 and William Swemmer 2/15. Peterhouse 145/4; Tanatswa Nyamhuri 56* and Charlie Buchanan 45*. Peterhouse won by 6 wickets.
  • U16A: Peterhouse 160; Niall Whaley 62. St George’s 150; Dylan Moyo 3/32, Riley Findlay 2/16 and Jaden Chitongo 2/2. Peterhouse won by 12 runs.

A superb clean sweep against St George’s, with excellent contributions across all age groups. A special mention goes to Jake Labat for his outstanding figures of 5/30.

ROWING

CBC Sprints Regatta

Peterhouse Boys produced an excellent performance at the CBC Sprints Regatta on Sunday 4 October, finishing an impressive 2nd overall.

This was particularly encouraging for our newest rowers, some of whom only started rowing four weeks ago. Despite difficult and windy conditions, they competed bravely in their first races against much more experienced opposition, with several achieving excellent second-place finishes.

VOLLEYBALL

U16 Tournament

Our U16 Volleyball team competed in a tournament hosted at Peterhouse over the weekend. The boys played with great enthusiasm, camaraderie and team spirit throughout the competition.

Quarter-Final

  • vs St John’s – lost 0–2

Although the boys’ tournament came to an end in the quarter-final, they can be proud of their effort, enthusiasm and the positive spirit with which they represented Peterhouse.


WATER POLO

Knox & Jardine U16 Trophy

The Peterhouse U16 Water Polo team competed in the Knox & Jardine U16 Trophy hosted at Peterhouse over Friday and Saturday.

Played 4 | Won 0 | Lost 4 | 6th Overall

  • vs Hellenic Academy – lost 3–15
  • vs Falcon – lost 6–12
  • vs St John’s – lost 2–7
  • 5th/6th Playoff vs St George’s – lost 4–14

It was a challenging tournament for the U16 side, but the boys gained valuable match experience against strong opposition and continued to compete throughout the weekend.

Zimbabwe U19 Water Polo Selections

Congratulations to Daniel Hutchings, Mitchell Duckworth and Tapfuma Taundi on their selection for the Zimbabwe U19 Boys Water Polo Team. Jack Havercroft and Callum Moore were named as non-travelling reserves. This is excellent recognition of their hard work and performances. 


CULTURAL RESULTS

Debate

 

v St George’s College – Tuesday 30 September (SGC)

  • Juniors: PHB lost with 69%, to St George’s 72%.
  • Intermediates: PHB lost with 73%, to St George’s 81%.
  • Third Best Speaker: Taonashe Matsuro with 80%.

FALCONRY – GRADED EXAMINATIONS

Congratulations to the following boys who wrote their C Grade Falconry exam and passed, qualifying them as C Grade Falconers.

The exam covers basic regulations and knowledge of the Falconers Code of Conduct and allows them to begin flying a bird, starting them on their journey as falconers.
