POTRAZ ICT Innovation Expo

Adrain Mudekunye and Ethan Hinds were among the forty selected applicants from a pool of over 1,000 contenders, as noted by POTRAZ. They showcased their STEM project to a panel of ten industry experts who served as adjudicators. After three days of presentations to various panels, they achieved first place in this national event, open to participants of all age groups.

Notably, Adrain and Ethan, just 15 years old, stood out in a competitive field that included postgraduate students and seasoned research professionals. Their remarkable achievement at one of Zimbabwe’s premier innovation expos is commendable. Their project, titled Activate Authenticity, is a startup focused on addressing the rising issue of AI-generated misinformation. This cutting-edge software not only combats misinformation but also features the capability to translate sign language into text, effectively bridging communication gaps and promoting inclusivity.

As winners, Ethan and Adrian received a prize of $5,000, which they will reinvest in patenting their project and enhancing it for market readiness.
