Another busy and successful week of sport for Peterhouse Boys, with excellent performances across a number of sporting codes. Highlights included an unbeaten tournament victory for our cricketers, the Interhouse Swimming Gala, and Zimbabwe water polo selections.


Basketball

vs Watershed College

An excellent set of results for Peterhouse, with five victories from seven fixtures. Well done to all the boys and coaches.


Cricket

Watershed T20 Tournament – Tournament Champions

Peterhouse produced an outstanding unbeaten performance at the Watershed T20 Tournament, with a very young team winning all six matches to be crowned Tournament Champions.

Match 1 – vs Petra
Peterhouse 148/2 (15 overs), Raymond Biyason 84 off 43 balls. Petra 33 all out (9 overs), William Scott 4 wickets.
Peterhouse won by 115 runs.

Match 2 – vs Kyle College
Peterhouse 171/2 (15 overs), Dillon Nyamhuri 54. Kyle College 45 all out, Charlie Buchanan 3 wickets.
Peterhouse won by 126 runs.

Match 3 – vs Watershed B
Watershed B 33 all out, with Sam Cloete, William Scott and Dylan Moyo taking two wickets each. Peterhouse 35/0 (3 overs).
Peterhouse won by 10 wickets.

Quarter-Final – vs Petra
Petra 75/9 (15 overs), Dylan Moyo 4 wickets. Peterhouse 79/4 (9.4 overs), James Hosack 21.
Peterhouse won by 6 wickets.

Semi-Final – vs Goldridge
Peterhouse 168/3 (15 overs), Dillon Nyamhuri 37. Goldridge 32 all out, Patrick Mostert 3 wickets.
Peterhouse won by 136 runs.

Final – vs Lomagundi
Lomagundi 141/6 (15 overs), Sam Cloete 3 wickets. Peterhouse 106/1 (11.4 overs), Raymond Biyason 33, Dillon Nyamhuri 29* and James Hosack 27*.
Peterhouse won on the D/L Method due to bad light.

Congratulations to Samuel Cloete, who was named Player of the Final, and Dylan Moyo, who was named Bowler of the Tournament.

Congratulations also to Niall Whaley, who received a Man of the Match award during the tournament.

A fantastic achievement from this young Peterhouse side, who remained unbeaten throughout the competition to bring home the trophy.


Swimming

Interhouse Swimming Gala

The Interhouse Swimming Gala produced excellent racing and tremendous House spirit, with Ellis House emerging as the 2026 champions.

A good overall performance from our tennis players, highlighted by convincing victories for both the U14 and U15 teams.


Water Polo

Tournament at CBC

Played 6 | Won 2 | Lost 4 | 5th Overall

The tournament provided valuable competitive experience for the Peterhouse team, who finished 5th overall after six matches.

Following the tournament, congratulations go to Cameron Cooper, who was selected for the Zimbabwe team.

Josh Kay and David Bathurst were named as non-travelling reserves.

Congratulations to all three boys on this excellent recognition.

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

It was also an excellent week for Peterhouse Boys on the cultural front, with pupils representing the school in Debate, Public Speaking, Bridge, Poetry, Music and Mathematics, alongside another valuable Interact outreach initiative.


Debate

vs Gateway & Peterhouse Girls

The Junior and Intermediate Debate teams competed against Gateway and Peterhouse Girls.

Juniors
Peterhouse Boys scored 63%, with Gateway winning with 68%.

Intermediates
Peterhouse Boys recorded an excellent victory with 61%, ahead of Gateway on 59%.

There were also strong individual performances:

  • Zviito Nhemachena – Best Speaker, 73%
  • Taonashe Matsuro – Third Best Speaker, 71%

Congratulations to both boys on their individual achievements.


Public Speaking

vs Gateway & Peterhouse Girls

Peterhouse Boys produced two strong individual results in the Public Speaking competition.

Intermediates
Caleb Mashungu finished 2nd out of five speakers with 74%.

Juniors
Veer Sikand finished 2nd with 70%.

Congratulations to Caleb and Veer on their excellent performances.


Bridge

vs Prince Edward & Peterhouse Girls

Peterhouse enjoyed an outstanding performance in the three-way Bridge contest against Prince Edward and Peterhouse Girls.

  • A Room – 1st, with 36 points
  • B Room – 1st, with 28 points
  • C Room – 3rd, with 10 points

Peterhouse Boys accumulated 73 points overall to finish 1st in the three-school competition.

Congratulations to the team on an excellent result.


Poetry Slam

Interhouse Competition

This year’s Interhouse Poetry Slam was held under the theme “Journeys”, with the boys once again producing thought-provoking original poetry and delivering their work to a very high standard.

Musician of the Year

Instrumentalists and vocalists competed across the Junior, Intermediate and Senior categories at the Musician of the Year competition, with winners and runners-up recognised in each category.

Interact

Visit to Ida we Kwako

Members of the Interact Club visited Ida we Kwako, where they spent time interacting and praying with the elderly.

The Club provided pastries and drinks, which were served during the visit, as well as donating groceries.

Thank you to the Peterhouse community for its generous financial support of Interact programmes and for continuing to make these valuable outreach initiatives possible.


Mathematics

Zimbabwe Mathematics Olympiad – Final National Round

Congratulations to Kudakwashe Chifamba on an outstanding performance in the Final National Round of the Zimbabwe Mathematics Olympiad.

Kudakwashe finished 6th nationally in his age category, placing him among the top 10 students selected to represent Zimbabwe at the upcoming International Olympiad.

This is an exceptional academic achievement and a wonderful recognition of Kudakwashe’s mathematical ability, dedication and hard work.
