Interact Club
On Thursday, 1st February 2024, the PHB/PHG Interact Club visited Kukura Neshungu. They served the children with drinks and biscuits and donated clothes and shoes. They danced with them and discussed the home’s needs with the institution’s administrator, Mrs Sibanda. The Interact Club thanks all PHB and PHG pupils and staff for their support; it enables the Interact Club to put smiles on the faces of disadvantaged people occasionally.
MUN
On 31st January, PHG MUN hosted a workshop at PHG in the school hall. The workshop was for PHG as well as PHB. The boys and girls were a mixture of experienced and inexperienced members. Our guest presenter was Eleni Bruggiser, a parent here who is well-versed in the MUN functions. The workshop was focused on writing well-thought-out Position Papers because the pupils still need to be more confident in this area. The buzz in the air as the girls and boys worked with each other to produce position papers was electric, and the position papers that were produced pushed the boundaries. It was exciting to see that though some of them had never written a position paper, they could produce one in a short time, working together with people they had not met before. Next term, we hope to host another one, which will be longer with more guest speakers.

From the 14th to the 17th of November last year, the London College Music exams were held at PHG. The following candidates, now in D block, wrote these exams at SVH and passed with distinctions:

PASTIS
The Peterhouse Awareness Club (PASTIS) met with Macheke High School in Macheke. The clubs discussed the merits and demerits of co-education, primarily on pupils’ social development and whether single-sex schools improved focus on academics. Our second topic of debate was why kids are growing up too fast (mentally, socially and physically) and if it is a problem. This topic was discussed at length, with many different perspectives being presented from both sides, as well as personal accounts from the staff in attendance with children of their own, which also gave us further insight into the topic.
