Thursday 7th July 2023
Dear Parents and Guardians,
With the term rapidly drawing to a close, there is still much work left to do. The mock examination results have been released and the girls have all received feedback on these. Some will be very pleased with their marks and are on track to do well at the end of the year. Others will be disappointed but will have a clear indication of what is now required to turn this around and aim for greater success. If your daughter has not done as well as she should, please help her to re-focus and carefully plan to use the remaining time wisely to achieve her goals.
Culturally, our girls have been involved in the Allied Arts Speech and Drama Festival and some of their results are recorded below. Basketball and hockey have had a notably good season thus far and we look forward to the remaining matches. Next weekend is a big sporting weekend for us; on Saturday morning we will have a full programme of hockey against Chispite, culminating in the First teams playing for the Pearl Trophy. Peterhouse Boys First and Second teams will be playing against St John’s College, and we will take the opportunity to celebrate the opening of our new astroturf. I hope many of you will be able to come and enjoy a great day of sport with us.
I am grateful, as always, to the girls and staff who have contributed to the crochet blankets we make every year for the Marondera Orphanage. Please keep the squares coming in; we still have several blankets to complete.
On a similar note, in assembly this week, a group of A Block girls led by Lanah van der Merwe, made an impassioned presentation on the work and needs of the ZNSPCA, followed by a request to meet some of the organisation’s needs. In echo of their request, please consider sending your daughter back, on Monday, with old blankets, dog food, cat food, and anything else that would be of benefit to the Marondera SPCA.
Final preparations are in full swing for the musical, Firebringer, which will be performed for the community on the 28th of July. Please do come out and support our young thespians and staff who have worked so hard and have a great evening of entertainment.
I hope you all have a restful, happy, and blessed weekend, and we look forward to finishing the term as strongly as we started it.
Warm regards,
Mrs Claire Hough
Headmistress
